Hadith of Abu Qatadah Al-Ansari (RA)
Hadith 1007:58
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Uthman ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Mawhab say: I heard ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Qatadah narrating from his father, Abu Qatadah, that they were on a journey of theirs, and I saw a wild donkey. I mounted a horse and took the spear and killed it. He said: And among us were those in the state of ihram. He said: So they ate from it. He said: Then they became apprehensive. He said: So I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him—or he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was asked—he said: "Did you signal, or did you assist, or did you hunt?" Shu‘bah said: I do not know. He said: "Did you assist?" or "Did you hunt?" Then they said: No. So he commanded them to eat it.
