Musnad Ahmad 1007:60

Ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Amr ibn Halhalah narrated to me, from Ma‘bad ibn Ka‘b ibn Malik, that Abu Qatadah informed him; and Yazid ibn Harun said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq informed us, from Ma‘bad ibn Ka‘b ibn Malik, from Abu Qatadah, the meaning [of the hadith], he said: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in a gathering when a funeral passed by. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "One who is at rest and one from whom others are at rest." He said: We said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the one who is at rest?" He said: "The believing servant rests from the toil of the world and its harm to the mercy of Allah." We said: "And what is the one from whom others are at rest?" He said: "The wicked servant; the servants, the lands, the trees, and the beasts rest from him." ‘Abd al-Rahman said: And I read it to Malik, meaning this hadith.
