Hadith 1228:3
Yahya narrated to us, from Shu'bah, who said: Al-Hakam narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Rafi', from his father, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent a man from Banu Makhzum to collect the charity (Sadaqah). He said: "Will you not accompany me so that you may obtain (a share)?" He said: I said: "Until I mention that to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." So I mentioned that to him, and he said: "Indeed, we, the family of Muhammad, charity is not lawful for us, and the freed slave of a people is from among themselves."
حدثنا يحيى، عن شعبة، قال: حدثنا الحكم ، عن ابن أبي رافع، عن أبيه، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بعث رجلا من بني مخزوم على الصدقة فقال: ألا تصحبني تصيب؟ قال: قلت: حتى أذكر ذلك لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فذكرت ذلك له ، فقال: " إنا - آل محمد - لا تحل لنا الصدقة، وإن مولى القوم من أنفسهم "
