Hadith 1228:4
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said: Shareek informed us, and Abu al-Nadr said: Shareek narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Ali ibn al-Husayn, from Abu Rafi, who said: When Fatimah gave birth to Hasan, she said: "Shall I not perform *aqiqah* for my son with blood (a sacrifice)?" He (the Prophet) said: "No, but shave his head, then give in charity the weight of his hair in silver to the poor or the *awfad*." The *awfad* were people from the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who were in need in the mosque or in the *suffah*. Abu al-Nadr said: "Of silver (*wariq*) to the *awfad*, meaning the people of the *suffah*, or to the poor." She did that. She said: Then when she gave birth to Husayn, she did the same.
