Musnad Ahmad 463:8

Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Shurayh narrated to me, he said: I heard Muhammad ibn Sumayr al-Ru'ayni saying: I heard Abu Amir al-Tujibi saying—my father said: "And someone else, meaning other than Zayd, said: Abu Ali al-Janbi"—saying: I heard Abu Rayhanah saying: We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on a military expedition. We arrived one night at a high ground and spent the night upon it. A severe cold struck us, to the point that I saw some men digging a hole in the ground to enter into it, and casting their shield—meaning the buckler—over themselves. When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw that from the people, he called out: "Who will guard us this night, and I shall supplicate for him with a supplication in which there is virtue?" A man from the Ansar said: "I, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Approach." So he approached. He said: "Who are you?" The Ansari identified himself to him. Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, began the supplication and supplicated extensively. Abu Rayhanah said: When I heard what the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had supplicated with, I said: "I am another man." He said: "Approach." So I approached. He said: "Who are you?" He said: I said: "I am Abu Rayhanah." He then supplicated with a supplication that was less than what he had supplicated for the Ansari. Then he said: "The Fire is forbidden to an eye that shed tears or wept out of fear of Allah, and the Fire is forbidden to an eye that stayed awake in the way of Allah." And he mentioned a third eye, which Muhammad ibn Sumayr did not hear.
