Hadith of Abu Shuraih al-Khuza'i al-Ka'bi from the Prophet (SAW)

حديث أبي شريح الخزاعي الكعبي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Hadith 1226:0

Abu Shurayh al-Khuza'i al-Ka'bi narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people, indeed Allah has forbidden Makkah, and it was not forbidden by men. It is not lawful for anyone who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood therein, nor to cut down a tree therein. If anyone seeks a concession due to the fighting of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then say to him: 'Indeed, Allah permitted it to His Messenger and did not permit it to you.' And He only permitted it to me for an hour of a day, and it has returned today to its sanctity as it was yesterday. So let the one who is present convey it to the one who is absent."
