Musnad Ahmad 538:18

Yazid ibn Abd Rabbih narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Harb narrated to us, he said: al-Zubaydi narrated to us, from Yunus ibn Sayf al-Kala'i, then from Taym, from Abu Idris 'A'idh Allah ibn 'Abd Allah al-Khawlani, from Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he looked up at me, then he looked down at me, and said: "A little sprout." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is it a little sprout of good, or a little sprout of evil?" He said: "Rather, a little sprout of good." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land of hunting. I send my trained dog; some of what it catches I reach its slaughter, and some of what it catches I do not reach its slaughter. And I shoot with my arrow; some of what it hits I reach its slaughter, and some of what it hits I do not reach its slaughter." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Eat what your hand, your bow, and your trained dog return to you, whether slaughtered or not slaughtered."
