Hadith of Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (RA)

Hadith 538:19

'Affan narrated to us, Wuhayb narrated to us, he said: An-Nu'man ibn Rashid narrated to us, from Az-Zuhri, from 'Ata' ibn Yazid al-Laythi, from Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw a gold ring on his finger. He began to strike his hand with a stick he had with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became heedless of him, so he took the ring and threw it away. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked and did not see it on his finger. He said: "We do not see ourselves but that we have caused you pain and caused you a loss."
