Musnad Ahmad 538:20

Muhanna ibn Abd al-Hamid and Affan—and this is the wording of Muhanna—said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu Asma al-Rahbi, from Abu Thalabah al-Khushani, that he said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are in the land of the People of the Book; may we cook in their pots and drink from their vessels?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If you do not find others, then wash them with water and cook in them." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are in a land of hunting, so how should we act?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If you send your trained dog and mention the name of Allah, and it kills, then eat. And if it is not trained, then slaughter and eat. And if you shoot with your arrow and mention the name of Allah, and it kills, then eat."
