Hadith of Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (RA)

Hadith 538:21

Wahb narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Nu’man narrating from al-Zuhri, from ‘Ata’ ibn Yazid, from Abu Tha’labah al-Khushani, who said: A man sat with the Prophet of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and in his hand was a ring of gold. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, struck his hand with a rod that was in his hand. Then the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, became heedless of him, so the man threw away his ring. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, looked at him and said: "Where is your ring?" He said: "I threw it away." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "I think we have caused you pain and caused you a loss."
