Musnad Ahmad 962:129

Abu Nuh and Abd al-Samad narrated to us, they said: Ikrimah narrated to us, and Abu Nuh said: Ikrimah ibn Ammar informed us, from Shaddad ibn Abdullah, who said: I heard Abu Umamah saying: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was in the mosque, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have incurred a prescribed punishment (*hadd*), so execute it upon me." He said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, remained silent. Then he returned and said it to him a second time. Then the prayer was established, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, prayed, then he departed. Abu Umamah said: The man followed him. He said: And I followed him. Abd al-Samad said in his narration: So I departed with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and the man was following him, so that I might know what he would say to him. He said: The man said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, I have incurred a prescribed punishment, so execute it upon me." He said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "Did you not perform ablution before you left your house and perform the ablution well, then pray with us?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then Allah has forgiven your prescribed punishment, or your sin"—Ikrimah was in doubt. Abd al-Samad said in his narration: So I departed with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and the man followed him.
