Musnad Ahmad 962:165

Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from Abu Bakr ibn 'Abdullah—meaning Ibn Abi Maryam—from Habib ibn 'Ubayd al-Rahbi, that Abu Umamah entered upon Khalid ibn Yazid, and he (Khalid) threw a cushion for him. Abu Umamah thought it was silk, so he withdrew, walking backward until he reached the end of the row, while Khalid was speaking to a man. Then he (Khalid) turned to Abu Umamah and said to him, "O my brother, what did you think? Did you think it was silk?" Abu Umamah said, "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'He who hopes for the days of Allah shall not enjoy silk.'" Khalid said to him, "O Abu Umamah, did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?" He said, "May Allah forgive [you]. Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)? Rather, we were among a people who did not lie to us, and we did not lie to them."
