Musnad Ahmad 962:27

Zayd ibn al-Hubab narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar al-Yamami narrated to me, from Shaddad ibn 'Abd Allah, from Abu Umamah, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in a gathering, and a man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed a *hadd* (prescribed punishment), so execute the Book of Allah upon me." He said: Then the prayer was established. He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, led us in prayer. When he finished, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, went out, and the man followed him, and I followed him. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed a *hadd*, so execute the Book of Allah upon me." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "Did you not leave your house, perform ablution, perfect the ablution, and pray with us?" The man said: "Yes." He said: "Then Allah has forgiven your *hadd* or your sin."
