Hadith of Abu Uthman al-Nahdi, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b (RA)
Hadith 929:5
'Abdullah narrated to us, 'Ubaydullah ibn Mu'adh ibn Mu'adh al-'Anbari narrated to us, al-Mu'tamir narrated to us, he said: My father said, Abu 'Uthman narrated to us, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: There was a man—I do not know of any person among the people of Medina who pray towards the Qibla—whose house was further from the mosque than his. He used to attend all the prayers with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I said to him: "If only you would buy a donkey to ride in the heat and the darkness." He said: "By Allah, I would not like my house to be adjacent to the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." He said: So I informed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he asked him about that. He said: "O Prophet of Allah, so that my footsteps, my return to my family, and my coming [to the mosque] may be recorded for me," or as he said. He said: "Allah has granted you all of that," or "He has given you everything you sought [as a reward]," or as he said.
