Hadith of Abu Waqid al-Laythi (RA)

Hadith 947:12

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Harb—meaning Ibn Shaddad—narrated to us, Yahya—meaning Ibn Abi Kathir—narrated to me, Ishaq ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah narrated to me, from the hadith of Abu Murrah, that Abu Waqid al-Laythi narrated to him, saying: While we were with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), three people passed by. One of them came and found a gap in the circle, so he sat down. The second sat behind them, and the third went away. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Shall I not inform you about the news of these people?" They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "As for the one who came and sat, he sought refuge, so Allah gave him refuge. As for the one who sat behind you, he felt shy, so Allah felt shy of him. And as for the one who went away, he was a man who turned away, so Allah turned away from him."
