Musnad Ahmad 885:3

'Affan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, Khalid narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from 'Amr ibn Bujdan, from Abu Zayd al-Ansari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed through the midst of our dwellings and found the smell of roasting meat. He said, "Who is this who has slaughtered?" A man from among us came out to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, this was a day in which food was scarce, so I slaughtered to eat and to feed my neighbors." He said, "Then repeat [the slaughtering]." He said, "No, by the One besides whom there is no god, I have nothing except a *jadha'ah* (a young sheep) or a lamb," and he said that three times. He said, "Then slaughter it, but a *jadha'ah* shall not suffice for anyone after you."
