Musnad Ahmad 774:18

Mu'ammal narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Simak ibn Harb, from Murri ibn Qatari, from 'Adi ibn Hatim, who said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father used to uphold family ties, and he used to do such and such, and such and such. Does he have any reward for that?" He said: "Your father sought a matter, and he attained it."
