Musnad Ahmad 774:4

'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Mansur narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from Hammam ibn al-Harith, from 'Adi ibn Hatim, that he asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and said: "I send my trained dog, and it catches [the game]." He said: "If you send your trained dog and mention the name of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and it catches [the game], then eat." I said: "Even if it kills it?" He said: "Even if it kills it." He said: "I said: 'I shoot with the *mi'rad* (a blunt-headed arrow or stick used for hunting).' He said: 'If it strikes with its sharp edge, then eat; and if it strikes with its side, do not eat.'"
