Musnad Ahmad 774:5

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Khaythamah, from 'Adi ibn Hatim, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is not one among you but that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will speak to him, with no translator between Him and him. Then he will look to his right, and he will see nothing but what he has sent forth. Then he will look to his left, and he will see nothing but what he has sent forth. Then he will look in front of him, and the Fire will face him." He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever among you is able to protect his face from the Fire, even with half a date, let him do so."
