Musnad Ahmad 627:17

Yazid narrated to us, Hisham bin Hassan informed us, from Muhammad bin Sirin, from Abu Ubaydah, from a man who said: I said to Adi bin Hatim: A hadith reached me from you that I would like to hear from you. He said: Yes. When the emergence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached me, I disliked his emergence with an intense dislike. I went out until I fell into the direction of the Romans—Yazid said, meaning in Baghdad—until I arrived at Caesar. He said: I disliked my place there more than my dislike for his emergence. He said: I said: By Allah, if only I had gone to this man; for if he is a liar, he will not harm me, and if he is truthful, I will know. He said: So I arrived and came to him. When I arrived, the people said: Adi bin Hatim, Adi bin Hatim. He said: So I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said to me: "O Adi bin Hatim, submit and you will be safe," three times. I said: I am upon a religion. He said: "I am more knowledgeable of your religion than you." I said: You are more knowledgeable of my religion than I am? He said: "Yes. Are you not of the Rakusiyyah, and you consume the fourth of your people's spoils?" I said: Yes. He said: "For this is not lawful for you in your religion." He said: He did not repeat it, and I humbled myself to it. He said: "As for me, I know what prevents you from Islam. You say: 'Only the weak of the people follow him, and those who have no strength, and the Arabs have cast them away.' Do you know Al-Hirah?" I said: I have not seen it, but I have heard of it. He said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, Allah will surely complete this matter until a woman travels from Al-Hirah until she circumambulates the House, fearing no one but Allah, and the treasures of Chosroes son of Hormizd will surely be opened." I said: Chosroes son of Hormizd? He said: "Yes, Chosroes son of Hormizd. And wealth will be given away until no one accepts it." Adi bin Hatim said: "So this woman travels from Al-Hirah and circumambulates the House, fearing no one, and I was among those who opened the treasures of Chosroes son of Hormizd. And by the One in Whose hand is my soul, the third will surely happen, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has said it." *** Abdullah bin Muhammad narrated to us—Abu Abd al-Rahman said: And I heard it from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abi Shaybah—he said: Zayd bin al-Hubab narrated to us, from Yahya bin al-Walid bin al-Musayyir al-Ta'i, he said: Mahlal al-Ta'i informed me, from Adi bin Hatim, who said: "Whoever leads us in prayer, let him complete the bowing and the prostration, for among us are the weak, the elderly, the sick, the traveler, and the one with a need. This is how we used to pray with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)."
