Musnad Ahmad 627:25

Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Awn, from Muhammad, from Ibn Hudhayfah, who said: I used to narrate a hadith from ‘Adi ibn Hatim. I said: "This ‘Adi ibn Hatim is in the vicinity of Kufa, so if I were to go to him, I would be the one to hear it from him." So I went to him and said: "I used to narrate a hadith from you, and I wanted to be the one to hear it from you." He said: "When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was sent, I fled until I was in the furthest part of the Roman territory." Then he mentioned the hadith.
