Hadith 302:5
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, he said: Al-Sari ibn Yahya narrated to us, Al-Hasan narrated to us, Al-Aswad ibn Sari' narrated to us—and he was a man from Banu Sa'd—he said: And he was the first to tell stories in this mosque, meaning the Jami' Mosque. He said: I went on four military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said: Some people seized the offspring after they had killed the combatants. That reached the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so he said: "What is the matter with people who killed the combatants until they seized the offspring?" He said: A man said: O Messenger of Allah, are they not the children of the polytheists? The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Indeed, the best of you are the children of the polytheists. There is no soul that is born except that it is born upon the natural disposition (fitrah), and it remains upon it until its tongue expresses it, then its parents make it a Jew or make it a Christian." He said: And Al-Hasan concealed it.
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر، قال: حدثنا السري بن يحيى، حدثنا الحسن، حدثنا الأسود بن سريع وكان رجلا من بني سعد قال: وكان أول من قص في هذا المسجد يعني المسجد الجامع قال: غزوت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أربع غزوات، قال: فتناول قوم الذرية بعدما قتلوا المقاتلة، فبلغ ذلك رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: " ألا ما بال أقوام قتلوا المقاتلة حتى تناولوا الذرية "، قال: فقال رجل: يا رسول الله، أوليس أبناء المشركين؟ قال: فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إن خياركم أبناء المشركين، إنها ليست نسمة تولد إلا ولدت على الفطرة، فما تزال عليها حتى يبين عنها لسانها، فأبواها يهودانها و ينصرانها "، قال: وأخفاها الحسن
