Hadith of Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA)

Hadith 658:101

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: I heard al-Bara’ say: The first of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) to arrive in Medina were Mus‘ab ibn ‘Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum, and they used to teach the people the Quran. He said: Then Bilal, Sa‘d, and ‘Ammar ibn Yasir arrived. Then ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived with twenty of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) arrived, and I did not see the people of Medina rejoice over anything as they rejoiced over the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He said: Even the slave girls began to say: "The Messenger of Allah has arrived." He said: He did not arrive until I had recited: "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High" (Surah al-A‘la) among the chapters of the Mufassal.
