Hadith of Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA)
Hadith 658:203
Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, he said: Malik—meaning Ibn Abi Anas—narrated to us, from Amr ibn al-Harith, from Ubayd ibn Fayruz, from al-Bara’ ibn Azib, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked: "What should be avoided in sacrificial animals?" He said: "Four." And al-Bara’ said—and my hand is shorter than the hand of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)—: "The lame whose lameness is evident, the one-eyed whose defect is evident, the sick whose sickness is evident, and the emaciated that has no marrow."
