Musnad Ahmad 658:219

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abu Juhayfah, from Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, who said: Abu Burdah slaughtered before the prayer, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: "Replace it." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have nothing but a *jadha'ah* (a young goat/sheep)," and I think he said: "It is better than a *musinnah* (an older animal)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Make it [the sacrifice] in its place, but it will not suffice or fulfill for anyone after you."
