Musnad Ahmad 658:23

Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, Abu Janab al-Kalbi narrated to us, Yazid ibn al-Bara' ibn 'Azib narrated to me, from al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, who said: We were sitting in the prayer ground on the day of Adha, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us. He greeted the people, then said: "Indeed, the first rite of this day of yours is the prayer." He said: So he stepped forward and prayed two rak'ahs, then he gave the salutation. Then he faced the people with his face, and he was given a bow or a staff, and he leaned upon it. He praised Allah and extolled Him, and he commanded them and forbade them, and said: "Whoever among you hastened the slaughter, it is merely meat he fed his family; the slaughter is only after the prayer." My maternal uncle, Abu Burdah ibn Niyar, stood up to him and said: "I hastened the slaughter of my sheep, O Messenger of Allah, so that food could be prepared for us to gather around when we return. And I have a six-month-old goat, which is better than the one I slaughtered. Will it suffice for me, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes, but it will not suffice for anyone after you." He said: Then he said: "O Bilal." He said: So he walked, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) followed him until he came to the women. He said: "O assembly of women, give charity, for charity is better for you." He said: I never saw a day with more severed anklets, necklaces, and earrings than that day.
