Hadith 658:25
Abu al-Walid and ‘Affan narrated to us, they said: ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Iyad narrated to us, he said: Iyad narrated to us, from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Azib, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "How would you describe the joy of a man whose riding beast escaped from him, dragging its rein in a desolate land in which there is neither food nor drink, and upon it is his food—‘Affan said: and his drink—so he searched for it until it became difficult for him, then it passed by the trunk of a tree—‘Affan said: by a trunk—and its rein got caught, so he found it caught upon it—‘Affan said: caught upon it." He said: We said: Intense, O Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Nay, by Allah, Allah is more joyful at the repentance of His servant than that man is with his riding beast." Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman said: Ja‘far ibn Humayd narrated it to us, he said: ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Iyad narrated to us the like of it.
