Hadith of Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA)

Hadith 658:43

'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Sulayman ibn 'Abd al-Rahman informed me, he said: I heard 'Ubayd ibn Fayruz, the freed slave of Banu Shayban, that he asked al-Bara' about the sacrificial animals, what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade and what he disliked. He said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said—or the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood among us, and my hand is shorter than his hand—he said: "Four [types] are not sufficient: the one-eyed [animal] whose blindness is evident, the sick [animal] whose sickness is evident, the lame [animal] whose limping is evident, and the broken-boned [animal] that has no marrow." He said: I said: "I dislike that there be a defect in the horn," or he said: "a defect in the ear, or a defect in the tooth." He said: "What you dislike, leave it, but do not forbid it to anyone."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
