Hadith of Al-Bara' bin 'Azib (RA)
Hadith 658:54
Isma'il—meaning Ibn 'Ulayyah—narrated to us, Shu'bah informed us, from Al-Hakam, that Matar ibn Najiyah appointed Abu 'Ubaydah ibn 'Abdullah over the prayer during the days of Ibn al-Ash'ath. When he would raise his head from bowing, he would stand for the duration of what I say—or he said: for the duration of his saying: "O Allah, our Lord, to You is the praise, filling the heavens, and filling the earth, and filling whatever You will of anything after that. [You are] the Possessor of praise and glory. There is no preventer for what You have given, and no giver for what You have prevented, and the wealth of the wealthy will not benefit him against You." Al-Hakam said: I narrated that to 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, and he said: Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib narrated to me, saying: "The bowing of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and when he raised his head from bowing, and his prostration, and what was between the two prostrations, were nearly equal."
