Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Qunan ibn Abdullah al-Nahmi narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Awsajah, from al-Bara' ibn Azib, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever says: 'There is no god but Allah alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the dominion, and to Him belongs the praise, and He is capable of all things,' or gives a gift, or guides someone along a path, it is as if he has freed a slave." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: I heard my father say: "Yahya ibn Adam rarely mentioned people; I never heard him mention anyone other than Qunan. He said to us one day: 'This is not from your category.'"
