Musnad Ahmad 562:1

Muhammad ibn Abi ‘Adi narrated to us, from Sulayman, from Abu Tamimah, from Duljah ibn Qays, that al-Hakam al-Ghifari said to a man—or a man said to him—: "Do you remember when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the *naqir* (hollowed-out log) and the *muqayyar* (pitch-coated vessel), or one of them, and the *duba’* (gourd) and the *hantam* (green glazed jar)?" He said: "Yes, and I bear witness to that." Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman said: Some of our companions narrated to me, saying: I heard ‘Arim say: "Do you know why he was named Duljah?" We said: "No." He said: "They traveled by night (*adliju*) with him toward Makkah, and his mother gave birth to him in the *duljah* (the last part of the night) at that time, so he was named Duljah."
