Musnad Ahmad 656:4

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Firas, from al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, from 'Abdullah, regarding a man who married a woman, then died before consummating the marriage with her and before setting a dowry for her. He said: "She is entitled to the dowry, she must observe the waiting period ('iddah), and she is entitled to the inheritance." Ma'qil ibn Sinan said: "I witnessed the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, judge accordingly in the case of Burwa' bint Washiq."
