Musnad Ahmad 695:20

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, al-Layth—meaning ibn Sa'd—narrated to us, he said: Abdullah ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abi Mulaykah narrated to me, from al-Miswar ibn Makhramah, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was on the pulpit, saying: "Indeed, the sons of Hisham ibn al-Mughirah sought my permission to marry their daughter to Ali ibn Abi Talib, but I do not grant them permission." Then he said: "I do not grant permission." Then he said: "I do not grant permission. For my daughter is a piece of me; what disturbs her disturbs me, and what harms her harms me."
