Musnad Ahmad 695:24

Muhammad ibn ‘Abbad al-Makki narrated to us, Abu Sa‘id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, ‘Abdullah ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, from Umm Bakr and Ja‘far, from ‘Ubaydullah ibn Abi Rafi‘, from al-Miswar, who said: Hasan ibn Hasan sent [a messenger] to al-Miswar to propose to his daughter. He said to him: "Meet me at the time of the ‘Atamah (night prayer)." He met him, and al-Miswar praised Allah and said: "There is no tie, nor lineage, nor affinity more beloved to me than your lineage and your affinity. However, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Fatimah is a branch of me; what gladdens her gladdens me, and what distresses her distresses me. And indeed, lineages and ties will be severed on the Day of Resurrection, except for my lineage and my tie.' And you have her daughter as your wife, and if I were to marry you [to my daughter], that would distress her." So he left, excusing him.
