'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Abu Hilal narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu Burdah, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, who said: I reached the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he smelled the odor of garlic on me. He said: "Who ate garlic?" He said: So I took his hand and inserted it [under my garment], and he found my chest was bandaged. He said: "Indeed, you have an excuse."
