Hadith of al-Mughirah ibn Shu‘bah (RA)

Hadith 626:69

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn 'Ubayd, who said: I heard 'Ali ibn Rabi'ah say: I witnessed al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah go out one day, and he ascended the pulpit. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "What is the matter with this wailing in Islam?" A man from the Ansar had died, and he was wailed over. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Indeed, lying upon me is not like lying upon anyone else. Whoever lies upon me intentionally, let him take his seat in the Fire." I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Indeed, whoever is wailed over, he is punished for what was wailed over him."
