Musnad Ahmad 626:72

Waki’ narrated to us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Humayd ibn Hilal, from Abu Burdah, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu’bah, who said: I ate garlic, then I came to the prayer place of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and I found that he had preceded me by one rak’ah. When he finished the prayer, I stood to complete it. He sensed the smell of the garlic, so he said: "Whoever eats this plant, let him not approach our mosque until its smell goes away." He said: When I finished the prayer, I came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have an excuse. Give me your hand." He said: I found him, by Allah, to be easy-going. He gave me his hand, and I inserted it into my sleeve to my chest, and he found it bandaged. He then said: "Indeed, you have an excuse."
