Hadith of al-Mughirah ibn Shu‘bah (RA)

Hadith 626:9

Abdullah said: I found in my father’s book, in his own handwriting: Abd al-Muta’al ibn Abd al-Wahhab narrated to me, Yahya ibn Sa’id al-Umawi narrated to us, al-Mujalid narrated to us, from Amir, who said: The sun eclipsed in the forenoon until its darkness intensified. Al-Mughirah ibn Shu’bah stood and prayed with the people. He stood for the duration of what one would recite a surah from the Mathani, then he bowed for the same duration, then he raised his head and stood for the same duration, then he bowed a second time for the same duration. Then the sun cleared, so he prostrated. Then he stood for the duration of what one would recite a surah, then he bowed and prostrated, then he departed. He ascended the pulpit and said: "The sun eclipsed on the day Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), died. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stood and said: 'Indeed, the sun and the moon do not eclipse for the death of anyone; rather, they are two signs from the signs of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic. So if one of them eclipses, hasten to prayer.'" Then he descended, and he narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was in the prayer, and he began to blow in front of him. Then he stretched out his hand as if he were reaching for something. When he finished, he said: "The Fire was brought near to me until I blew its heat away from my face. I saw in it the owner of the hooked staff, the one who let the Bahirah roam free, and the woman of Himyar, the owner of the cat."
