Musnad Ahmad 652:11

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from Simak, that he heard al-Nu'man ibn Bashir delivering a sermon, and he was saying: "I praise Allah the Exalted, for a month would often pass by the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, while he would remain writhing, not finding enough of the inferior quality dates to satisfy his hunger."
