Musnad Ahmad 652:19

'Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from Abu Qilabah, from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He went out and prayed two rak'ahs and asked [Allah], and prayed two rak'ahs and asked [Allah], until it cleared. He then said: "Indeed, some men claim that when the sun and the moon eclipse, one of them only eclipses for the death of a great one among the great ones. It is not so. Rather, they are two creations from the creations of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic. When Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, manifests Himself to anything of His creation, it humbles itself before Him."
