Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, from al-Nu’man ibn Bashir, who said: We accompanied the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and we heard him say: "Indeed, before the Hour, there will be tribulations like pieces of the dark night. A man will wake up in them as a believer, then he will be in the evening as a disbeliever; and he will be in the evening as a believer, then he will wake up as a disbeliever. People will sell their share [of the Hereafter] for a small portion of the world, or for the portion of the world." Al-Hasan said: "By Allah, we have seen them as images without intellects, bodies without minds, moths of fire and flies of greed. They go out in the morning for two dirhams, and they return in the evening for two dirhams. One of them sells his religion for the price of a goat."
