Hadith of Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 652:65

Sufyan narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi, who heard it from al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "The likeness of the one who compromises (al-mudhin) and the one who falls into the limits of Allah—Sufyan said: once he said, 'the one who stands firm regarding the limits of Allah'—is like three people who boarded a ship. One of them ended up in its lower part, which was the most difficult and the worst of it. He would pass by them, and he was a burden to them whenever he passed. He said: 'I will bore a hole, so it will be easier for me, and I will not be passing by them.' Some of them said: 'He is only boring a hole in his own share.' Others said: 'No, for if they restrain his hands, he will be saved and they will be saved; and if they leave him, he will perish and they will perish.'"
