Hadith 688:11
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, al-‘Ala’ ibn Salih narrated to us, from ‘Adi ibn Thabit, Abu Rashid narrated to us, he said: ‘Ammar delivered a sermon to us, and he was brief in his sermon. A man from Quraysh said to him: "You have said words that are a cure; if only you had lengthened it." He said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, forbade us from lengthening the sermon."
حدثنا ابن نمير، حدثنا العلاء بن صالح، عن عدي بن ثابت، حدثنا أبو راشد قال: خطبنا عمار، فتجوز في خطبته، فقال له رجل من قريش: لقد قلت قولا شفاء، فلو أنك أطلت، فقال: " إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، نهى أن نطيل الخطبة "
