Hadith 688:13
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah, that 'Ammar ibn Yasir used to narrate that he was with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on a journey, and 'Aisha was with him. Her necklace was lost, so he detained the people to search for it until they reached the morning, and they did not have water with them. Then the [verse of] Tayammum was revealed. 'Ammar said: "So they stood up and wiped; they struck their hands [on the ground], then they wiped their faces with them. Then they returned and struck their hands a second time, then they wiped their hands up to the armpits," or he said: "up to the shoulders."
حدثنا عبد الرزاق، حدثنا معمر، عن الزهري، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة، أن عمار بن ياسر كان يحدث، أنه كان مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر معه عائشة، فهلك عقدها، فحبس الناس في ابتغائه حتى أصبحوا، وليس معهم ماء، فنزل التيمم، قال عمار: " فقاموا فمسحوا ، فضربوا أيديهم، فمسحوا بها وجوههم، ثم عادوا فضربوا بأيديهم ثانية، ثم مسحوا أيديهم إلى الإبطين "، أو قال: " إلى المناكب "
