Hadith 688:9
Bahz narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, al-Hakam narrated to us, from Dharr, from Ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from his father, that a man asked 'Umar ibn al-Khattab about *tayammum* (dry ablution), and he did not know what to say. 'Ammar ibn Yasir said: "Do you not remember when we were in a military expedition and I became in a state of major ritual impurity (*junub*), so I rolled in the dust? Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: 'It is only sufficient for you to do this.'" Shu'bah struck his hands upon his knees and blew into his hands, then wiped his face and his palms with them once.
حدثنا بهز، حدثنا شعبة، حدثنا الحكم، عن ذر، عن ابن عبد الرحمن بن أبزى، عن أبيه، أن رجلا سأل عمر بن الخطاب عن التيمم، فلم يدر ما يقول، فقال عمار بن ياسر: أما تذكر حيث كنا في سرية فأجنبت فتمعكت في التراب، فأتيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: " إنما يكفيك هكذا ". وضرب شعبة يديه على ركبتيه ونفخ في يديه، ثم مسح بهما وجهه وكفيه مرة واحدة
