Hadith 648:3
Abu Bakr ibn Ayyash narrated to us, Abu Ishaq narrated to us, from Najiyah al-Anazi, who said: Ammar and Abdullah ibn Mas’ud disputed regarding *tayammum* (dry ablution). Abdullah said: "If I were to remain for a month without finding water, I would not pray." Ammar said to him: "Do you not remember when you and I were with the camels, and I became in a state of major ritual impurity (*janabah*), so I rolled in the dust like an animal rolls? Then, when I returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and informed him of what I had done, he said: 'It would have been sufficient for you to perform *tayammum*.'"
