Hadith 648:9
'Ali ibn Bahr narrated to us, 'Isa ibn Yunus narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Yazid ibn Muhammad ibn Khuthaym al-Muharibi narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, from Muhammad ibn Khuthaym Abu Yazid, from 'Ammar ibn Yasir, who said: I and 'Ali were companions in the expedition of Dhat al-'Ushaira. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) descended there and stayed, we saw some people from Banu Mudlij working in a spring of theirs among some palm trees. 'Ali said to me, "O Abu al-Yaqzan, would you like for us to go to these people and watch how they work?" We went to them and watched their work for a while, then sleep overcame us. 'Ali and I went off and lay down in a hollow of the palm trees in some dust. We fell asleep, and by Allah, nothing awakened us except the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) moving us with his foot, while we were covered in dust from that ground. On that day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to 'Ali, "O Abu Turab (Father of Dust)," because of the dust he saw on him. He said, "Shall I not tell you of the two most wretched of people?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "The reddish man of Thamud who hamstrung the she-camel, and the one who will strike you, O 'Ali, upon this"—meaning his head—"until this becomes soaked with it"—meaning his beard.
حدثنا علي بن بحر، حدثنا عيسى بن يونس، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق، حدثني يزيد بن محمد بن خثيم المحاربي، عن محمد بن كعب القرظي، عن محمد بن خثيم أبي يزيد، عن عمار بن ياسر، قال: كنت أنا وعلي رفيقين في غزوة ذات العشيرة، فلما نزلها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأقام بها، رأينا أناسا من بني مدلج يعملون في عين لهم في نخل، فقال لي علي: يا أبا اليقظان، هل لك أن نأتي هؤلاء، فننظر كيف يعملون؟ فجئناهم، فنظرنا إلى عملهم ساعة، ثم غشينا النوم، فانطلقت أنا وعلي فاضطجعنا في صور من النخل في دقعاء من التراب، فنمنا، فوالله ما أهبنا إلا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يحركنا برجله، وقد تتربنا من تلك الدقعاء، فيومئذ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لعلي: " يا أبا تراب " لما يرى عليه من التراب، قال: " ألا أحدثكما بأشقى الناس رجلين؟ " قلنا: بلى يا رسول الله، قال: " أحيمر ثمود الذي عقر الناقة، والذي يضربك يا علي على هذه، يعني قرنه، حتى تبل منه هذه، يعني لحيته، " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
