Hadith 782:1
Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, Nuh ibn Qays narrated to us, from Ash‘ath ibn Jabir al-Haddani, from Makhul, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah, who said: A man came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—an old man leaning on a staff of his—and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have betrayals and immoralities; will I be forgiven?" He said: "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah?" He said: "Yes, and I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah." He said: "Your betrayals and your immoralities have been forgiven for you."
حدثنا سريج بن النعمان، حدثنا نوح بن قيس، عن أشعث بن جابر الحداني، عن مكحول، عن عمرو بن عبسة قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم شيخ كبير يدعم على عصا له، فقال: يا رسول الله، إن لي غدرات وفجرات، فهل يغفر لي؟ قال: " ألست تشهد أن لا إله إلا الله؟ " قال: بلى، وأشهد أنك رسول الله، قال: " قد غفر لك غدراتك وفجراتك "
