Hadith 782:4
Ibn Numayr narrated to us, Hajjaj—meaning Ibn Dinar—narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Dhakwan, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, who is with you in this matter?" He said: "A free man and a slave." I said: "What is Islam?" He said: "Good speech and feeding food." I said: "What is faith?" He said: "Patience and generosity." He said: I said: "Which Islam is best?" He said: "He from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe." He said: I said: "Which faith is best?" He said: "Good character." He said: I said: "Which prayer is best?" He said: "Long standing (in prayer)." He said: I said: "Which migration is best?" He said: "That you abandon what your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, dislikes." He said: I said: "Which jihad is best?" He said: "He whose horse is hamstrung and his blood is spilled." He said: I said: "Which hours are best?" He said: "The last depth of the night, then the prayer is written and witnessed until the dawn rises. So when the dawn rises, there is no prayer except the two rak'ahs until you pray the dawn prayer. Then when you have prayed the morning prayer, refrain from prayer until the sun rises. For when the sun rises, it rises between the two horns of a devil, and the disbelievers pray to it. So refrain from prayer until it rises high. Then when it has risen high, the prayer is written and witnessed until the shadow stands the length of a spear. When it is like that, refrain from prayer until it inclines. Then when it inclines, the prayer is written and witnessed until the sun sets. So when it is at the time of its setting, refrain from prayer, for it sets or disappears between the two horns of a devil, and the disbelievers pray to it."
حدثنا ابن نمير، حدثنا حجاج يعني ابن دينار، عن محمد بن ذكوان، عن شهر بن حوشب، عن عمرو بن عبسة قال: أتيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلت: يا رسول الله، من معك على هذا الأمر؟ قال: " حر وعبد " قلت: ما الإسلام؟ قال: " طيب الكلام، وإطعام الطعام ". قلت: ما الإيمان؟ قال: " الصبر والسماحة ". قال: قلت: أي الإسلام أفضل؟ قال: " من سلم المسلمون من لسانه ويده ". قال: قلت: أي الإيمان أفضل؟ قال: " خلق حسن ". قال: قلت: أي الصلاة أفضل؟ قال: " طول القنوت ". قال: قلت: أي الهجرة أفضل؟ قال: " أن تهجر ما كره ربك عز وجل ". قال: قلت: فأي الجهاد أفضل؟ قال: " من عقر جواده وأهريق دمه ". قال: قلت: أي الساعات أفضل؟ قال: " جوف الليل الآخر، ثم الصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى يطلع الفجر، فإذا طلع الفجر، فلا صلاة إلا الركعتين حتى تصلي الفجر، فإذا صليت صلاة الصبح، فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى تطلع الشمس، فإذا طلعت الشمس ، فإنها تطلع في قرني شيطان، وإن الكفار يصلون لها، فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى ترتفع، فإذا ارتفعت فالصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى يقوم الظل قيام الرمح، فإذا كان كذلك فأمسك عن الصلاة حتى تميل، فإذا مالت فالصلاة مكتوبة مشهودة حتى تغرب الشمس، فإذا كان عند غروبها فأمسك عن الصلاة، فإنها تغرب أو تغيب في قرني شيطان، وإن الكفار يصلون لها " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
