Hadith 455:0
Narrated to us by Aswad ibn ‘Amir, narrated to us by Hammad ibn Salamah, from Ishaq ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Talhah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi ‘Amrah, from ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah, that he said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while he was in Mina, so I said: "O Messenger of Allah, who is with you in this matter?" He said: "A free man and a slave." (He said: And with him at that day was Abu Bakr and Bilal). I said: "What is the prayer?" He said: "Pray the morning prayer, then refrain from prayer until the sun has risen and ascended, for it rises between the horns of a devil, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it. Then pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended until the shadow of a spear becomes as short as a spear. Then refrain from prayer, for at that time Hell is stoked. Then when the shadow turns, pray, for the prayer is witnessed and attended until you pray the afternoon prayer. Then refrain from prayer until the sun sets, for it sets between the horns of a devil, and at that time the disbelievers prostrate to it." I said: "O Prophet of Allah, tell me about Wudu (ablution)." He said: "There is not one of you who brings his water for Wudu and rinses his mouth and sniffs water into his nose and blows it out, except that the sins of his face, his mouth, and his nose fall out. Then he washes his face as Allah commanded him, except that the sins of his face fall out with the water from the ends of his beard. Then he washes his arms up to the elbows, except that the sins of his arms fall out with the water from his fingertips. Then he wipes his head, except that the sins of his head fall out from his hair with the water. Then he washes his feet up to the ankles, except that the sins of his feet fall out with the water from his toes. If he then stands and prays, and praises Allah, lauds Him, and glorifies Him as He deserves, and empties his heart to Allah, he will emerge from his sins like the day his mother gave birth to him." ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah narrated this to Abu Umamah, the companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Abu Umamah said to him: "O ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah, look at what you are saying! Is all of this given to a man in one sitting?" ‘Amr said: "O Abu Umamah, I have grown old, my bones have become brittle, and my time of death has drawn near. I have no need to lie about Allah or His Messenger. If I had not heard it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) once, twice, three times—and he counted up to seven times—I would not have narrated it. I have heard it more than that."
